DOW is at record highs largely due to promises made by the current president that are favorable to businesses.

Saved for posterity.

Good job Trump!

Reminder that one of those promises was no federal min wage increase, that states should decide. Which is exactly what is happening now.

If minimum wage guarantees you a comfortable living along with a few luxuries like entertainment, then what do people like me making >$30 an hour salary equivalent deserve? A Ferrari? A mansion?

a family?

And if I want to sit around playing video games and eating cake instead?

Also, not only do many poor people have families, but poor people are MORE likely than wealthier people to have more kids and larger families

your minimum wage hasnt been raising with the times as cost of living has been going up, yet you dont want minimum wage to increase as it will "increase the prices of everything else".
yet, prices go up regardless, but not minimum wage

theres still the fact that minimum wage should be enough for 1 person to survive on given full time hours of work, along with some comforts like entertainment

why do americans refuse to accept this?

it screws over small businesses. I'm conflicted

I think the biggest issue isn't so much about raising wages, but how ridiculous expensive it is to buy or rent homes nowadays. You have banks and rich ass people fucking it over for everyone by inflating the price of houses because of greed.

i'd rather a business be screwed over than an individual
and if a business isn't earning enough to pay its employees, it shouldnt exist

Businesses must make a profit to exist.

It's safe to assume that all current, successful businesses have found a balance between how much they have to charge for their goods/services to offset the overhead (including worker salaries) and still make profit.

Therefore, if a law artificially jacks up worker salaries, the only way for a business to regain that balance and continue to exist is to jack up the cost of their goods/services.

I do not wish to pay more for goods and services, therefore I want the minimum wage to remain low. Seems simple?
