An American college student who emerged from prison in North Korea in a coma has severe brain damage, but doctors don't know what caused it, a medical team treating him in Ohio said Thursday.

The doctors described Otto Warmbier as being in a state of "unresponsive wakefulness" but declined to discuss his outlook for improvement, saying such information would be kept confidential.

"He has spontaneous eye opening and blinking," said Dr. Daniel Kanter, director of neurocritical care for the University of Cincinnati Health system. "However, he shows no signs of understanding language, responding to verbal commands or awareness of his surroundings. He has not spoken."

There are several videos of Americans doing stupid shit during their tour in North Korea thinking its okay because thats they do in America such as doing stupid poses in front of important monuments or tresspassing and most of the time its college students. So fuck it, give it to those motherfuckers for not respecting other countries rights. Plus you deserved to be punished for even wanting to tour North Korea.

If we are ever able to take down that regime the idea would be to do so in a way that will save as many of them as possible. They aren't lost causes that we should regard as less than nothing.

I won't say they deserve hard labor or whatever NK does to them, but yeah going over there and breaking the rules is incredibly stupid (even dumber than going in the first place).

But even if you did nothing wrong, there's nothing stopping NK from being like "it's been a while since we've had Bill Clinton over. Pick one of those Americans and say he committed a crime here and we will detain him until we can get something out of it. If we never do and they end up injured/brain damaged oh well"

Guy is from a town close to where I live. Awful story. There is realistically no change to recover from this from what the doctors are saying. The fact that he even survived from botulism in NK is surprising.

I'm not victim blaming at all when i say this...what they did to him is absolutely horrible and fuck that piece of shit "leader" for it....But we know what NK does. you can go there. not at all. I'm not justifying NK's actions at all. There are some things that are beyond our control. Some things a protest or actions such as this wouldn't change. People need to realize that NK is one of those things. NK needs to be dealt with. But people need to understand that going to NK and screwing around isn't the same as going to Canada and mooning their flag. That Nation is too far gone and until they're dealt with don't fuck around when you choose to go there..i hope for a full recovery for this man. I'm not saying that to attack this man. I'm saying it as a word of caution for people who plan to ever go there.
