It just seems weird to me that we don't see a new cartoon, a movie, or atleast see Static in Injustice since he was such a popular character at one point with the old TV Show.

I'm not completely invested in the comic book scene so I dunno maybe they did some reboots and they did poorly but as someone on the outside it seems like DC hasn't really been trying that hard to promote Static today. Especially with how you have very successful characters like Miles Morales out there it just seems like a no brainer.

DC doesn't know what to do with Static Shock or any of the Milestone characters they have. Dwayne McDuffie dying certainly didn't help since I think he was the only one at DC who cared.

Nobody really liked Static, his reception was lukewarm despite all the money they sank into the WB show with cameos and episodes centralized around celebrities like lil bow wow, The Harlem globetrotters, Shaq and Romeo, it didn't help that it's demographic was very small so not alot of people could relate to Virgil and the whole thing about Richie's dad being racist as fuck would make people really pissed even more because as far as I remember Richie and his dad were the only white characters who appeared more than once. Oh, and finally, Richie was gay meaning that if they kept that in these times it would be blasted as SJW pandering trash.

Personally I loved that show as kid, especially Static's costume in later seasons but that ending was pure garbage and the fact that Static never met the Teen Titans pissed me off because I wanted him and Cyborg to bro it out.

Yeah I always thought that Static seemed more like a Marvel character since he was a lot more relatable than most DC heroes

Also as a black person Static Shock was definitely my favorite hero growing up

They did in the show at the end of the very last episode. So unless they're hellbent on not using him, he'll be there for Season 3 as a full-fledged member.

Probably means white suburban kids not being able to relate or something, *shrugs* (although personally, I have always though the not being able to relate excuse when it comes to tv show, movie, or video game main characters to be kind of a weak reason for stuff like this. I mean, characters like batman, spider-man, superman and so on have tons of minority fans despite most probably cannot relate to them like that (especially batman, lmao), so I don't know....whatever).. My nephews friggin' loved that show growing up. A lot of kids in their age group did from what I remember.

He was only gay in the comics. The ending was lame because all the bang babies lost their powers and then hotstreak and ebon fused together to become a weird monster with both of their powers. Virgil & Rochie somehow got their powers back to stop them and it was over.

Tbf, the showrunner (or whoever) said that he intended Richie to be gay, but there was no way they could get away with that on a kid's show. So he just had Richie massively overcompensate while "Virgil rolled his eyes."

I dunno. I feel like DC never really gave the guy his real potential respect. Even though he got his own show I felt like they've always made him the Jubilee of DC. They should have really maximize his powers to Magneto tier IMO.

They did,forget about the Batman Beyond crossover episode? he was good enough to be Justice League member in Terry's time. Through I still find it weird that out of all the heroes around the world the league asked him and richie of all people watch their watch tower for them, I thought the watch tower had employed staff?

Everything I can find says they're just licensed, hence DCs reluctance to do too much with them.

You know the answer. Marvel and DC have shown you the answer repeatedly. Why create new superheroes when you can continually imagine the old ones? Why do we need a new young black superhero when we can just make Iron Man a young black woman?

DC literally isn't doing that.

They did a minor reimagining of some characters like Superman and Green Arrow in New 52 but they the new characters didn't really stray far from the old ones. And nevertheless they retconned a lot of that shit anyway.

They are taking older, lesser known characters and giving them huge pushes. Katana, Vixen, Bumblebee, Cyborg, Jessica Cruz, and several others are all being given super hard pushes into the spotlight.

They're also creating new characters, like New Superman. Sure the title of the comic isn't really original, but the characters are their own.
