Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver demo. But not on purpose.

I picked up this dart thing, thinking it was a key, and jumped in the water and tried swimming into the gate to unlock it, but after trying for a few seconds, somehow the dart animation optical illusioned me into thinking there was something huge moving at incredible hihg speed toward my character. I got jump scared.

I don't get scared in video games easily, I guess. Never really did. Dunno why you would, really. But jump scares you can't really do anything about.

Probably a pretty common answer, but that damn dog jumping through the window in the first Resident Evil was the first time I remember being legitimately frightened by a game.

The redeads in Hyrule Market >_> I dreaded starting OoT everytime. I would just squint my eyes and just run through as quick as possible every time lol

That may sound wussy, but I was like 3 when I first played Super Metroid and I loved it but the opening creeped me the fuck out.

And I was like 6 when I played Chrono Trigger and the end of the world freaked me the fuck out.

there was this parking garage where everytime you go in there the music gets all sinister for some reason. nothing ever actually happens in there. but I was always expecting a werewolf to pop up and I always hated going there.

I wouldn't say that any game ever scared me but some sure gave me the creeps.

Anyway the first was Mega Man 2 on the level before Wiley.

I mean the eerie quietness and the sound of the dripping lava.

Came in to mention Uninvited... game still creeps me out a bit just from the memories of it as a kid.

Nightmare Creatures for the Nintendo 64 had a lot of scary moments for me.

I had that game on PS1, it had some cool creature designs and did an impressive job of building atmosphere at the time

Silent Hill.

I just had a demo of it from some demo disc from a magazine or something and I got down the first alleyway and the first odd scary dog thing and I turned it off and couldn't sleep. lol. I was a huge wuss.

It's in the same vein as Shadowgate and Deja Vu. Fun little games, but not for an 8 year old.
