Personally if you are only playing normal none of the new game plus weapons are necessary to finishing a play through. I'd upgrade your weapons first. That's just me. Plus if you get in a jam on professional the PLR is free and requires no upgrades.

As much as I've played it I rarely use the super weapons, if at all. Even on pro the weapons you like best upgraded completely should be more than enough.

One of the perks of the minethrower. If you get him in the face only takes two shots. And I believe that carries over to pro too.

If you're starting on Professional....you're pretty much starting from scratch again and nothing passes over unless you've beaten the game on that difficulty already.


The only differences from what I remember is that enemies does more damage and I think they have more health as well. You also aren't able to buy the Assault Vest that reduces damage.


If you kill the Merchant...he doesn't respawn for the remainder of the chapter or area I think.


That's just about all I can remember for now.

Pro Mode:

- Locked to Highest difficulty ( Easy and Normal have dynamic difficulty) You may have noticed less or weakened enemies after dying in a area... in Pro mode they are in full force. Also the damage you take is higher and consistent
- Enemies run more often/ are more aggressive
- Enemies with more health
- the U3 fight will consume a shitton of ammo

What I was meaning was if he bought the minethrower in pro mode, just like normal it would only take one mine dart to stun the giant... do it twice and it will kill him just like normal. But I didn't word my post well.

Pro mode = god mode. On the surface it looks "harder" but for experienced players it's almost too easy because when the game is locked in at maximum difficulty, 99% of the game is predictable.

You get better at it. To the point where you're glad there are that many bosses in each stage because they just become points.

The reason there are sooooo many Bella Sisters is because they're much weaker than the other bosses. At least one character can instakill them and I'm pretty sure two others can as well. So Leon and Ada are the only ones who have trouble.

Edit: And on second thought, Ada has a semi-auto rifle, so she wouldn't be in major pain from them either.

HUNK is fun.

But Krauser is the best newbie character IMO. He only has one ammo type so you can use it as much as you want, his bow oneshots pretty much every regular enemy, and he has his arm's special ability on a cooldown which causes him to charge forward and deal massive damage to everything in front of him.

And Wesker's QTE attacks are just absolutely devastating. Plus he has better weapons than anyone else.

Are you talking about the area in the castle where all the zealots are praying and they are all holding gems? Couple grenades=easy money

Trying to 4 star (or is it 5 star?) on mercs with Leon is TOUGH! Once you're good enough, it's fairly easy to get max stars with everyone else. I managed to unlock everything on the GameCube version and ps2 but I don't like the Xbox controller for re4.

Yeah I'll use it there too, if I happen to have one. I was talking about
when you have to shoot the wine glass on the painting to open the door, and when you go in the cage drops on you and there is a prisoner (the dudes with the claws) in there. I just throw a hand grenade down and it will stun the prisoner and destroy the lock on the cage door and I can get out fast.

Not really. The only spot where armored Ashley is really useful is the Castle Water Room, especially when she has to turn the cranks at the end. The rest of it is pretty much the same unless you're really bad about letting her get hit/grabbed.
