I see a lot of people do this and a lot in the watch stores too, where they'll pull the crown or stem out, presumably to save the battery life. But i've read that doing this in silver oxide batteries really doesn't extend the battery life at all. Kinda doesn't make much sense does it? But presumably it's true.

WTF is a stem?

Oh, analog watches. Silly people. Why would anyone want a watch they have to wind? (And if it's a battery-powered analog watch, I think you missed the boat somewhere.)

Very useful for my grandpa, when he wanted guests to leave he would go get in his pajamas and come back downstairs winding his arm clock.
