every once in a while I make furniture and sell it on craigslist as hand made craftsmanship quality. but that's only 1 piece every couple of years.

typically a few weeks. last summer I sold a walnut and maple bed for $2500, took about 4 weeks from the time I posted it to it selling. I also don't negotiate when I sell that stuff, though. I don't exactly make a lot of money doing it though, I had probably 150-200 hours into the bed, wood working is a hobby of mine and sometimes I don't have anything I want to build for myself but something I want to build all the same.

I was fairly close to signing up for the reserves shortly after college because I was only making $42k when I started and needed more money. How long have you been in the reserves? What is the pension like? Is there a limit how long you can stay in the reserves? Like I am 34 now, if I signed up would I be kicked out in 6 years or something?

Was active for 4 years been reserves for 7. The retirement is based on a points system. Basically, as long as you show up for every drill weekend, you will have enough points to retire in 20 years, although you don't start drawing a pension until you turn 62.
Im not 100% sure what the age cut off is but I want to say it's 38.
The 401k type plan is known as the Thrift Savings Plan that is available to all government employees. They match up yo 5%, and only has like a . 5% management fee on it. Pretty nice.

Right now I get the TriCare health insurance which covers my whole family for $217 per month. Once I retire I can get TriCare Gold, which is for retirees but the price jumps up to around $1000 per month. However, since you will also be a veteran, you can use the VA for minor stuff or prescriptions. And finally, if you want to, you can find something wrong with you and claim a certain amount of disability for a few extra hundred dollars a month after you seoarate

Yes. My primary job is an administrator at a university. The following are additional income:

1. I rent out my house since my university job requires me to reside on campus. I rent out the three bedrooms for $450, $400, and $350 respectively. I make $1150 a month.
2. My laser tag business. It's still relatively new but I take home roughly $500 a month in profit after all business bills and taxes are paid.
3. My research fellowship. I make $1000 a month doing research for two faculty in my phd program.
4. My book sales. I publish a few books here and there and they net me roughly $100 in revenue a month.

So outside my job, I'd say I make about an additional $2800 per month.

Tutoring. If things go right, in the next few months I should be making more from tutoring than my actual jobs salary. Getting 25 students for 1 90 minute class per week next month and it pays around $1,000/month (after paying for the classroom rental which is actually cheap at $6/hour. The woman (friend of my wife's aunt) said if it goes well she thinks she can get us at least one more class of around the same size.

Works or to be like $167/hour which is fucking crazy. I normally charge 400 baht per hour per student, we've agreed on 1,500 baht/month per student for the big class. Best part is all I'll be teaching is basic conversational English.
