I don't get how subscribing works on twtich.

I mean I can log in and watch people play. Why do people pay money?

Subscribing is usually to support the streamer. Although Twitch takes half of that. Probably better to just donate money to them through PayPal. They get more that way.

I never got that. And according to one guy who does both Twitch and YouTube, the viewers over there are more likely to kick over a couple bucks than YouTube's viewer base.

To "support the streamer". Some people stream full time and they make all their money from subs and donations. People pay in order to help the person survive and keep entertaining them. It seems like a crazy concept to me as well, but it's a good racket and I want to try streaming at some point

Subbing supports the streamer, gets you exclusive emotes to use in chats, and removes ads (I think...)

Otherwise you still watch for free anyway. People like to donate for support and help upgrade the streamers systems, etc...

I guess I can understand donating money to someone if you like watching them. But the subscription thing seems odd to me.

I am actually going to stream this summer I think, but not to make money or cause anyone will watch. I just want to find out the logistics and technical side of doing it.

It does. Funny how that worked. Originally it did remove ads. Then they stopped removing ads with subscriptions. Then later "introduced" ad-free viewing with subscriptions again as if it was something new.

Subscribers get to sue special emoticons and get badges and shoutouts for the lefty of time that they keep resubscribing. It doesn't really seem worth it to me, but people still do it

Besides "showing support", what benefits would a $25 subscription give than the other tiers?

Getting an exclusive emote is definitely not worth the $25 tier lol. I guess streamers can use it for giveaways by sorting subs by tiers, but in terms of immediate benefits, it's not very worth.

It's the opposite. You're paying to get better benefits for your streams, not for watching.

I used to think it was stupid and pointless until I found a streamer that really entertains me so I see it as paying for a better entertainment experience. *Shrug*

Some streams are their own communities. There will be subs who don't even give a shit about the game being played, they come to interact with the chat and streamer. Or they'll be friends and play the games together, or with/against the streamer. And theyre elitist at the top "echelon" so unique emotes and all that shit is pretty attractive to people. I've regularly seen huge donations on twitch.

Last year I watched iSkys for awhile on twitch, pretty regularly. Cuz I would get off work and only have an hour or so before going back to finish my split. So I'd make some food and watch Sky's destroy people in dark souls 3 for a bit. I enjoyed it a lot; he actually inspired my invader builds and the youtube channel I made. Soo... I like twitch. I did donate to sfc spades so he could buy the dks3 dlc, but I normally don't do that. Definitely not interested in subbing either
