I am aware of the homestead acts. my point was that America has always had a consideration of what is "american", and while it has changed to encompass other groups, it certainly began with a very specific set of european backgrounds. Only with time, numbers, and significant fight has any group started to become considered "american" besides those, and even then they literally get specified as "african american" or "asian american" rather than just "american", aka white european. Just remember the dogwhistle "real america" shit the right pulls to remind people white europeans are the american culture, the rest of you just live here.

it should be noted that america is not the only country that does things similar to the homestead acts to accept other groups in return for farming land or what have you. most notably recently, russia has begun giving away land (with a similar 5 year requirement) to its citizens to go out east and farm, and will eventually open up the opportunity to foreigners.

I'm talking about any nation. Philippines is obviously not a white nation, but their nationalist president is awesome.

Hence the different immigrant experiences for Irish, Italian, Polish, German, etc. immigrants. The point of our arguments is that America is, historically, a diverse nation built on the numerous unique cultures that either existed before Europeans arrived, were forcefully relocated here, or chose to migrate willingly.

Because that's pretty nitpicky and doesn't actually further the conversation at all, considering your issues could've been assuaged by adding a few details to what I said.

It's like someone saying "we fought germany and japan in ww2" and you say "you're wrong, because you didn't include the other nations". Who gives a fuck. The homestead acts exist. The point was that tons of our country was colonized due to migration, which is a really 'duh' thing to say.
