Man, I've actually played Port Royal a few times - I wish you'd given an actual hint for it! It's a cute little game, though I don't think I'd have it above Mysterium. Lots of push-your-luck in this portion of the list.

With that description, I gotta go with Pandemic. It's the single most well-known co-op game.

41) Pandemic (2008)
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/30549/pandemic
Here we have the king of co-op games. Pandemic is all about going around the world treating diseases and eventually attempting to cure them. You have to make sure to keep the high diseased cities under control because if one gets too many disease cubes it'll outbreak to the connected cities and you will have a bad time.

This game has 3 expansions, a Cthulhu version, an Iberia version, a dice version, and a legacy version. We've recently started Legacy so that won't be on the list. I haven't played Cthulhu or Iberia, though I'm interested. I have played the dice version so that has a possibility of showing up later.

I don't think I've had a negative Pandemic experience except for my very first time - I ahdn't played a lot of hobby games at the time, and I kept trying to stack the cubes, which led to a lot of issues. But then, I've played it almost only with friends - I'm sure that it can be crowd-dependent.

40) Ticket to Ride (2004)
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/9209/ticket-ride
Probably the second most well known Spiel des Jahres winner and one of the most popular gateway games of all time. Ticket to Ride is a route building game for 2-5 players. In this game you will select routes cards that require you to connect 2 specific cities, and then collect similar coloured cards to place your trains on paths to eventually connect the two cites on each of your cards.

This game has a ton of maps, but I've only played the NA map. I had played a couple times on someone else's copy and then got the 10th Anniversary Edition. I might like this more if I had tried other maps, but I haven't really had the chance because playing this game doesn't come up too often.

Hint for #39
Another Spiel des Jahres winner, but I'll be more specific and say that this one was from within the last 10 years.

Ticket to Ride IMHO plays much better when the players do not take it very seriously, and play quickly. It's tempting to think about what you're trying to do, and always try to look ahead and pick up the correct face up cards, and keep checking your ticket destinations over and over again...or you can just friggin' draw two and say GO, or friggin' build a route and say GO. You can play strategically, but why don't you just save that energy for a more strategic game? The fun in TTR comes from building.

I think I wish it was much more random so that players would have the intuition that they are not supposed to take winning so seriously.

I own many ticket to rides, and recently couldn't help but pick up Rails & Sails, and I reaaally like it. Having two decks and two types of pieces is just plain fun. I didn't expect to like it because my favorite maps are typically the shortest ones, and Rails & Sails is the longest for sure. But it is really fun how many boat cards have TWO boats, making it much easier to build longer segments.

39) Dixit (2008)
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/39856/dixit

Dixit is a party game for 3-6 players (and can go up to 12 with an expansion that I don't think is in print anymore). In this game players will have a hand of cards with crazy weird art (like Mysterium). The active player will set one card face down and say/sing/do an action/anything they want that they think has something to do with this card. The other players will then select a card from their hand that they also think fits this hint. All of the cards are shuffled and revealed, then players will vote on which card they think was the active player's. If everybody guesses it correctly, or nobody guesses it correctly then everybody gets points besides the active player. If some, but not all, guess it then the active player and the correct guessers score points. Extra points are also awarded to the people who had their card guessed by somebody else. First player to 30 wins.

This is a nice filler game that lets you be really creative. I end up playing this game often because it's my girlfriend's favourite game. But that's countered by the fact that one person we game with says it's his least favourite (I'm glad none of the people we game with hate my favourite!). There are also a few Dixit cards that would be great to enlarge and hang on the wall.

Dixit's more of an activity than a game, but it's really good. I might like it more than Mysterium just because everyone gets to be creative. But the best way to 'game' it is to give super-exclusive inside jokes that only one other person will get, which... I don't like so much. Better to treat it more lightly.

(Realizing that this comment is kinda similar to Epyo's on TTR!)

Guessing for #38... Deception? I don't know this publisher well and don't have an easy bulletpoint list.

38) Deception: Murder in Hong Kong (2014)
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/156129/deception-murder-hong-kong
Deception is a hidden role/deduction game for 4-12 players. One player acts as the Forensic Scientist giving clues to all of the other players in an attempt to help them figure out the solution to a murder. But plot twist, the murderer is one of the other players. Each player will have 4 "Means of Murder" cards and 4 "Key Evidence" cards in front of them. Everybody will close their eyes besides the Scientist. The randomly selected murderer will open their eyes and select one of each card in front of them - that is the solution. The Scientist will then place 6 tiles in front of them. One cause of death, one location of murder, and 4 randomly selected others. Without speaking, the Scientist will place wooden bullets on each tile next to the answer they think best suits the solution. The players must discuss amongst themselves what they believe to be the answer. Each investigator gets 1 guess, and both choices must be correct. The game goes until someone guesses correctly, or all investigators have guessed incorrectly. There are some optional roles you can add. An accomplice who opens their eyes with the Murderer, helps keep suspicion off of the Murderer. A Witness who knows the Murderer and Accomplice (but not specifically who) which helps with inside information, but they can't be too obvious because if the villains lose but can guess the Witness, they still win. And a Consulting Detective that can reveal their role if they sacrifice their ability to guess, as to narrow down the suspects.

This is one of the reasons Mysterium is low. I would usually always rather play this instead. It's quicker so you can get multiple rounds in and I really like hidden traitor aspects in games.

I'm not sold on Deception. Seems like as with Mysterium, the more you play it with the same group. the less fun it'll be, especially being one of the bad guys.

A ton of the bad guy's success will lie in getting dealt difficult clue cards, I think.

37) Love Letter (2012)
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/129622/love-letter

Love Letter is a deduction card game for 2-4 players. This is probably the lightest game on this list. There are a total of 16 cards (20 if you count the reference cards). They have a value from 1-8 (8 being the strongest) as well as an effect. The goal is to eliminate the other players. Each round one card will randomly be cut from the deck and each player draws a card. On your turn you will draw a card and then play one of your two cards. The cards have different effects such as "look at an opponent's card", "make an opponent discard and re-draw", "compare hands with an opponent and the person with the lowest card is eliminated". The 8 card is the most powerful but if it's ever discarded, the holder is eliminated. Last person remaining gets a point. If all cards are drawn, the remaining players compare hands and the highest value gets the point. Rounds continue until one player has a certain number of points.

This game has a ton of versions, as mentioned in my hint I almost always play Batman. It has different rule on how to get points but I've never played that way. I've also played the Archer version and despite never watching the show, I liked how it made the cut card more involved. I'm also interested to try the Premium version that adds new cards and goes up to 8 players.

I don't remember the next one offhand so hint later.
