You don't actually have to complete the dungeon to get the item. You find it pretty early into it (although I completed the dungeon anyway).

But the high beams mean daemons don't come out while you're driving at night, so it's pretty handy.

Killed a couple Iron Giants yesterday, so that was sweet. Not without some close spots though. Arachnes are super annoying too. Still doing a whole bunch of sidequests.

It's sad to see Squeenix still doesn't know how to make chocobo racing fun. This second course in the carnival is just the stupidest thing. At least I got the trophy for the first course after like fifty tries.

Also is it feasible at all for me to try getting the exclusive fishing stuff as a level 1 fisher with just the very beginning equipment? I've tried it a bit, but the highest tag I've found is a G, and that put up a decent fight. I do know about the food from the cafe.

Anyway, which of the buyable rewards are the most worth it for someone that hasn't actually started the game yet? (beyond saving just after towing the car to Cindy) I don't know that I'll have the patience to grind medallions for too long, but if there's something super useful that's a real pain to get normally, I can tough it out.

I'd recommend buying a Coerul Whisker. Used to upgrade a weapon and Coerul's suck to kill.

I did searches on the FFXV board for each of the weapon upgrade materials to see which seemed best to go after, and I ended up buying a Sky Gemstone, a Magnetron or whatever, that Coeurl Whisker, and a Cactaur Needle.

Also two each of the Prismatic Ore/Shard/Dust because the description says they're extremely rare and they were really cheap anyway.

There are several locations, but they all sell the same things. What you're missing is that each of the three clerks at the exchange has different items available.

Just started playing, mainly to do the Moogle Chocobo Carnival stuff before it goes away.

I got the Dream Egg, the Regalia Decal, and the 2 recipes. Maybe I'll try for the fishing stuff, but doubt I'll go for the Chocobo Racing trophies. Anything else I should go for?

Is anyone else having problems with the photos not triggering the quest completion? That's been happening to me unless I've been taking the pictures wrong.

Nevermind, I got it. You have to wait like a second after snapping the photo until it triggers. You can't exit the camera right away.

I also got the VIP pass just to say I did.

Are the 6 Moogle dolls, and all the pictures on signs around town. Is there any guide anywhere that lists the location of all these so I can do them in the next 25 hours?

Coeurls suck. Ran into a few that are level 30 I think (I'm level 28), and basically got murdered. Ran away as fast as I could.

I got both Chocobo Racing trophies, both times just barely making it. Mere milliseconds under the the needed time.

Don't think I can get the fishing gear since it seems like it's better if you have a higher fishing skill and not be right at the start of the game. I guess I can go play the actual game now.

I heard that the fishing gear DLC is good enough to get them at the start. I don't know if it's part of the season pass or if you have to pay the extra $0.49 for it.

I'm 99% sure you don't need to be connected to the internet to play the event - I played it when PSN went down a couple days ago. So I think it might let you continue past the deadline.

I mean, I'll want to reconnect eventually, but there's a couple things I want to do in the carnival still (having trouble catching the A and B fish, mostly; not too worried about the chocobo trophies or the VIP pass), and I'm not sure I want to leave my Xbox on all that time.

I assume if you turn off the game, you will get kicked out.

Can confirm continued carnival access if you don't download the update. I'll probably keep it another day or so and then give up on the rod/reel if I don't have them by then.
