I still need to get reading it, but I've got my hands full with my little project. And reading all of the stuff I bought during the past month.

Speaking of which, I don't think I've updated my progress in this topic, so here they are.

I've been visiting a lot of Korean sites lately because I'm an impatient bastard. Sadly my adblocker is getting in the way, but it turns out the source still maintains all the picture files even if the page crashes, so I just opened the developer mode and let the developer screen take up the whole screen, thereby getting a makeshift ad-free manga viewing experience hehe

I admit though my Korean is far from developed, so I don't end up knowing all the words. I'd say 70% understanding, rest I just fill in via inference. I'm sure it's same for any of you who speak other languages. But I kinda got a lot of joy out of reading a lot of stuff that's still not available here. They also had like ch 33~35 of Mushoku Tensei manga, which were surprisingly great chapters. The manga is probably the worst way to read this series, but the mangaka did the reunion and fight between Rudeus and Paul (Paulo according to Korean translation, but they have a grand way of translating foreign name sometimes. Probably because they're usually direct translation of European versions of the name rather than American. Zenith was Jenis, but I think early translation of MT had her as Jenis until the official artworks told otherwise) and yeah that scene was done very well. It's hard to ruin what is a beginning of a gradual flurry of emotional scenes, but if he can maintain at the very least that sort of quality for the upcoming chapters and stop trying to force perverted scenes and stupid looking covers to juxtapose against the MT LN's sublime covers, that'd be a good enough justice to the series.

One other interesting thing was that Rudeus' speech patterns are unnaturally polite. They constantly mention that he speaks politely to everybody except his direct family, that some people find it bothersome. This is entirely lost in translation to English. It's supposed to be a means for him to apologize for wasting away his previous life, that he always considers himself beneath others. It's a lot more powerful actually reading it in Korean and in polite form for all of his speech to even characters like Eris.

Meanwhile, the main reason why I went to that Korean manga site was for Hajimete no Gal. I think the main character and the girl start the series off extremely frustratingly. But their relationship is constantly on thin ice, and each of the characters have a step up moment where it's clear to see them grow as people and as couples. It's just that before you get to that point, the series is incredibly infuriating. But supposedly the anime is only 10 episodes. And they already showed the black haired girl in the previews, and her arc is the last one, meaning it'll probably have 3.5 chapters worth of content per episode and cover 35 chs of the manga. I dunno... I'll definitely watch the anime, but I think it might go overlooked. Obviously there are romance anime/manga that are written well and very dramatic. But the point is that the typical romcom manga that targets younger audience don't have developing relationships like this series does. People were shocked that in the first few chapters (and probably the 1st episode of the anime) they were already going out, though it's under a shaky pretense. It's shaky precisely because neither the guy or the girl have any idea what the hell they are even supposed to do for each other. It ends up being more realistic than the brooding emotional discussions that fill the lives of high school students in other prominent and serious romance anime/mangas.

Because high schoolers are young. They don't know shit. End of story. So it's a story that I recommend and like, but I am also afraid it can be so easily written off. Or that I'm overanalyzing it. It's almost always the latter.

Well, ramble over.

Huh, this Hajimete no Gal actually sounds interesting. It's not something I usually read, but I'll have to check it out.

Speaking of which, that post on reddit about the writing style of "Humanity Has Declined" grabbed my interest, so I sampled the first volume. It's definitely well written, but I think it's too much for me as of now. I'll probably watch the anime before trying to read it again.

The plot of Humanity Has Declined sounds a bit too psychedelic for my taste. I've never been one for psychedelic.

I dunno, it looks pretty basic to me. Cute, entertainment-searching mascot humanoids take over the world because they're smarter and stronger. It's probably a not-so-deep fantasy comedy, but I may be wrong, considerig that Tanaka also wrote Aura: Maryuuin Kouga Saigo no Tatakai which is surprisingly deep and drama-heavy.

Welp... I'm gonna be deathly busy the upcoming few weeks.

Actually, now that we're past halfway through the last page, people who still visit, list all the LNs you want included in the first page, and if you're so kind, include the link to a fan translation as well

I'm still thinking about how I should do the next first post, but the creation of the topic, I was still fairly new into the LN/WN scene, so the first page is mediocre at best. But I'm getting some ideas, and I'd love it if you all helped me out as well.

I've actually ended up posting a lot of link to fan translations to things without getting modded. I think when it's illegal, it's actually up to the publisher to take it down themselves. But yeah I guess I should only really post reputable sites like baka tsuki. They don't really have everything though

Well, as long as you think it's worth it, then it's all good.

As for what I want to be included in the first page, it's definitely Kino's Jorney. That's currently my #1 favorite series.

Well that's... unfortunate. Although I never paid any real money when I used to play this kind of games, but I probably can understand how you feel.

Anyway, I just came across a discussion on Kara no Kyoukai's fan translation on reddit. The translation is complete, but supposedly the translator added a bunch of details out of nowhere, and also rewrote some sections. I haven't checked the raws yet, but I think it's a but too much work for a fan translator, not to mention that it could cause confusion among the readers.
This translated version is well written though, I'll give it that.

Finally, the Hatsune Miku symphony CD arrived. I was getting mighty antsy cuz it took freaking forever to come. Chose a 3rd party cheaper option rather than getting it overseas, which is ludicruously expensive. I'm a big fan of the composer Mitchie M, and he did most of the Vocaloid tuning in this as well as write the overture.

The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku arrangement was quite good lol. They do the fast Miku singing by playing a flurry of short notes from the violin.

Meanwhile, when I went to that bookstore, I saw an LN based on the song Disappearance of Hatsune Miku. Also read a review of it later on, and it was within my expectation. I don't think I'll ever get around to reading it though

Huh, I actually came across that and a bunch of other Vocaloid-based LNs in Thailand. They're super thick (and expensive) so I'm not really sure if I should try them out.

Yeah it's way thicker than I thought. The review said to be fair, there's a lot of exposition in that fast talking lols. But aside from odd pacing from time to time, supposedly it's a pretty good emotional adventure. It also gives a pretty fitting personality to Miku supposedly

To be fair, the vocaloid mascots' personalities depend on the songs, so they can be pretty much anything.

Disappearance doesn't really interest me story-wise, but I might pick up the English release later. Hopefully this leads to English releases of other Vocaloid novels. In particular, I'm interested in Aku no Musume and Senbonzakura.

Yeah both songs are on the album that I got. Aku no Musume is just so freaking silly to be to be honest, despite being a huge Rin fan, but Aku no Meshitsukai is a top tier song. And both would make for a good full story

Speaking of silly, I just came across a pretty silly sounding novel. The title is "Why not go to JUSCO with me, Valkyrie?", and it seems to be a reverse isekai of sorts. Basically, a fantasy world kingdom is invaded by orcs, with the princess and her knight escaping to modern Japan. Then they discover that it's actually a common occurrence in the MC's hometown, and eventually become addicted to shopping at JUSCO (a supermarket chain).
I picked it up partly because of JUSCO nostalgia. There used to be one in Bangkok 20 or so years ago, and I really liked that place as a kid.

Peace ends instead, precisely with a bang, followed by bewilderment. Fool's gold be damned, the fickle mind of man wrestles with worth and humanity, to grasp at the meaningless victories, to bolster an ant atop a picnic table. Ever walking, ever lifting, ever working. Forsaking the vast world that threatens to swallow such a tiny existence. At the wake of the breeze, a false light suggests that it shines but realizes it was whiteness amongst the stain, not light. And there never was any light nor bang, just bewilderment. The indecisive of the man thus leaves behind the whiteness in search of the fool's gold, never to be seen by those that walk beneath the sun.

I think I'm going to start reading Washio Sumi is a Hero since the last part of its anime just aired last weekend. The LN's in this series are short, but there are like three different stories so far.

Well that's a lot of illustrations for a 192-page long novel.
I haven't watched/read anything from that series except the first anime series, but the reception of that novel seems to be great so I'll put it in my backlog.

Nogi Wakaba is a Hero has so far my favorite thing from this series, it had everything I would've wanted from the first season of Yuyuyu. The third LN is currently having its chapters published in Dengeki G which is a monthly magazine iirc.

As for the illustrations I think every chapter had a color page and two non-colored one's.

I've seen genuine insanity the last couple of days. That is to say, insanity isn't something flamboyant. It's the result of somebody who genuinely believes in the ridiculous thing he does. The insane person will claim this or that with heartfelt belief, but all an outsider can do is just stare in disbelief. It's the kind of insanity where a person is willing to cause absolute harm to anybody he's ever known if it means he's gonna come out of it safe. An ant. A person can only amount to a mere insect. I've seen near death happen, and I feel my knuckles just... burn and ache. And I felt just so powerless to stop it.
