Anyone seen this? I've watched the dev diaries over the past few updates on the PS Blog, looks pretty to me. IGN's 8.0 is the only review I've seen so far, but it seems like the kinda thing more people would be into. It's a $15 game on PSN.
Dev diary: Trailer:
"Although much of Rainbow Moons appeal is in its exploration and character development, the battles are what matter most. Akin to our Soldner-X game series, we have taken an innovative approach by combining classical elements with new ideas. An example is the triggering of battle encounters. Random encounters? Yes or no? Well, how about both?! In Rainbow Moon you will find foes roaming the surface of the planet and have a chance to battle in additional random encounters. The latter, however, are 100% optional and can be disregarded if you so decide."
"All battles take place on grid-sized maps and are completely turn based. Thats right, just like the good old days: No stress, no chaos. Take your time to observe the situation and make the right move. Up to three party members can encounter a variety of evil beings. There are a number of commands at your disposal. The most important are Move, Attack, (using short or long range standard attacks), Skill (well talk more about this in a moment), Defend, Use an Item, and Escape (all battles can be abandoned during your turn)."
Im not sure if I'm getting it yet, I hope theres a demo, but "lol PSN". It seems fun, but also seems like one of those usual JRPG games thats a bit too long for its own good. AKA, I'd enjoy it for like 20-30 hours but then never beat it.
I do have PS+ though, so if the sale with that is good enough I'll think about it.

but man, those are some of the worst dev diaries I've ever seen. they are basically an extended tutorial more than anything. They take too long to introduce the things that actually make the game stand apart.
I feel like I'm gonna get it, and hopefully it surpasses my expectations.
