So when somebody linked to the Pokemon TCG2 patch, I noticed that the guy also had a thing up to randomize the pokemon in Emerald so that everything's catchable and silly. It should be somewhere on http://artemis251.fobby.net but I can't check it exactly because my internet's down at the moment.

I'll be using the every slot randomization, randomizing all three starters, and I think I gave myself a Master Ball as my starter's hold item because I'm a cheating jerk like that. :P

We're going to be doing the pansy version of Nuzlocke- I have to catch the first thing I see, but if I fail, I get a redo. >_> There's also nothing to stop me from using pokecenters. I also won't be able to name stuff after readers, because I'm mainly going to be playing when my internet's not working. <_< I finally reserve the right to go out and catch something for HM purposes alone if I get myself stuck.

I have a few updates already ready because I played the game for a while yesterday. This project isn't a very high priority, though, so I'm gonna space 'em out as a buffer.

The adventure of Tira begins! I only played a bit of Sapphire from this gen, and remember not liking it as much as other gens, but maybe this will be more fun.

I'm pretty hyped to see what starter choices I get. After tooling around for a bit, we get our choices....Pinsir, Ponyta, and....Groudon? o_O WELL GUESS WHICH ONE I AM TAKING. That poor Zigzagoon never knew what hit it.

BISHAMON10 SHALL DESTROY THE WORLD WITH HAX. ....although come to think of it, it's probably gonna be stuck with Mud Shot and Scary Face as its only moves for a long, long time, isn't it? :\

I'm not counting my starter as my route 101 pokemon, because again, I'm a pansy. I will, however, waste my Master Ball on the first thing I come across. I was planning on saving it but since it's the only way I can catch anything right now I feel that would be cheating (harder >_>).

Our lucky first contestant is....NidoranF! I wonder if I'm the first person ever to waste a master ball on that. >_> I'm not super happy at something so weak, but....I got a Groudon. I can't complain too much yet. >_> That said, I'd better do some training. I shall name her RAPTH because Nio always makes me think of Nidoran.

...Hm, this is problematic. There are Doduo here, which means BISHAMON10 is pretty useless, but RAPTH isn't strong enough to beat them easily. I only survive the first one with some clever switching, Poison Point, luck, and the use of my freebie potion. Could've been a short run, that. Back into the fray!

....oh look, it's a Lugia. I am super lucky that it used Whirlwind. I don't know if it has any attacks at Lv. 2, but that would've been super problematic. >_> Also, RAPTH outspeeds them o_O

There are Girafarig here too. They appear to know only Tackle, but I'm not risking RAPTH on that. Swellow as well, but they're pretty weak. It amuses me to see a Nidoran kicking around much better Pokemon. And Meditite too. Either the randomizer doesn't work the way I think it does or there are a lot of friggin' species you can run into on the very first route.

stupid friggin' Lugias wasting my time

That is about enough grinding, I think. We should be good to move on without incident!

...And indeed we do.

...Do pokemon's catch rates not change?

I had a level 4 peliper with like 1 hp but it still took 6 or so pokeballs. He almost killed both my pokemon!

On to route 103! I'll have to come back here once I have access to Pokeballs, I guess. First thing here is a Tauros, which is the first poke to tank a Mud Shot.

RIVAL BATTLE TIME, I guess? Looks like his starter wasn't affected by the randomizer, which makes sense....he's got a Treecko, which dies in two hits of Mud Shot, typing be damned.

there are freakin' sceptiles here

We go back to the lab without incident and finally pick up some pokeballs! Catching stuff should be...interesting.

Our first contestant is PORYGON! Exciting! ...Unfortunately, I accidentally kill it with BISHAMON10 (I am tired of that name already) after it converts to Ghost type.

The next one, however, transforms into other stuff. I don't know how that works, but it makes him damageable! ....and it dies to Poison Point after tanking three pokeballs. At least RAPTH gains a level?

a Treecko also dies I am pretty bad at this

Sceptile breaks my last two pokeballs. >_> Guess I'll come back when I can get more?

There are SLAKING here as well. o_o I stop by the Mart, and it looks like they have balls now. Groovetacular. I stock up and grab some healing stuff as well. The shop owner tosses me a Premier Ball! Nice guy.

I promise I will get something on 103, gorramit. But we're getting dangerously close to the point where I'm too strong to do that, so I'm gonna see if I can snag something on 102 first.

CORPHISH...dies. The next one, however, faces RAPTH instead, and she's able to give him two shots without a kill! Got 'im! He shall be named MONDO because I have Dangan Ronpa on the brain. I grind him up to 6 before crossing my fingers and going back to 103.

I'm lucky enough to pull Tauros, but mis-estimate his remaining health and kill him. I pull Porygon next, and the boogerhead eats like 7 pokeballs before I give up. I am going to be out of money soon and can't afford to waste ALL of my balls here. >_> That's the problem with doing this- some Pokes just really aren't likely to get caught with a regular Ball no matter how much you work on 'em. I'm going to write 103 off, because I straight gave up on that one to save balls. So no catching something there later.

We make Petalburg without any incident whatsoever. My team is pretty overleveled from all those failed captures, so the trainers pose no threat at all. Grumpig and Poliwag were also on this route.

I talk to a guy who wants my profile. It shall be: GROUDON GIVES INVINCIBLE PURE POWER.

I have a whopping two pokeballs for Route 104. -_- Let's hope we get something easy to catch...we get REMORAID. Well, that is something easy to catch. Weak, and overlaps type, but got it with one try. ESTRADA from my TEW diary is the first weasely sidekick to come to mind. He's pretty crappy and almost dies to a Skarmory on 102.

Route 104 also features Suicune. o_o Lileep, Azurill, and Ampharos as well. I'm able to get ESTRADA some levels and get some money for more balls.

The Petalburg Woods give me...CROBAT. Takes a few balls but I get him. No good names occur to me so he shall be called GANGREL. He's not much of an attacker, but he does have a full moveset of Astonish/Leech Life/Supersonic/Screech. He gets a couple levels before I venture back into the woods.

Petalburg Woods also has: Plusle, Numel, Misdreavus, Slugma

TEAM AQUA FOR WHATEVER REASON :O The Poochyena was actually a bit tough, between sand-attack and how easy it is to wall GANGREL at this point. ESTRADA was able to finish the job, though. Devon Researcher gives me a Great Ball! I have a feeling I am going to waste it.

There's just something amusing about sweeping a Suicune with a Remoraid. The enemies are getting tougher, but still not enough to pose any major threats.

RUSTBORO
BISHAMON10- Groudon 10 (Starter)
RAPTH- NidoranF 11 (Route 101)

Went ahead and started this too; seems like a fun idea.

First random attempt left me with a Cubone, Farfetch'd and Roselia to choose from. I chose Cubone, only to find it knew no attacking moves. Uh, let's try that again.

Second attempt left me with a Porygon2, Ditto and Jynx. Since I'm already doing randomized stuff anyway, might as well have some "fun" with it, so I picked Ditto.

Let's see how this goes. >_>

So is everyone setting wild Pokemon to "Completely Random," or "1-1 Substitutions?" I assume it's complete randomness, but all of the choices seem interesting.

I chose area unique 1-1. Seems more entertaining to me; less disappointment if I miss a Pokemon the first time.

Free CUT HM, sweet. I'll give it to......MONDO. BISHAMON10 could really use an attack move that has more than 15 PP and can hit Flying, but I doubt I'll want a slot tied to an HM once he starts learning real moves.

Hm, looks like I have two new Routes open to me. I'll check them out before I dust this gym.

...okay, I have one new route with Pokemon on it at least. >_> Looks like we get SLAKOTH. Snag her first try. She shall be SACCHI. That won't be much help against a Rock gym, so let's just jump in instead.

I can OHKO everything up to the Nosepass, which doesn't take much damage from Bubble and strikes back for nearly half MONDO's health. BISHAMON10 takes him down, but not before Nosepass takes half his health. Dude's a tank. Rock Tomb I WILL teach my Groudon, because I am not sticking with Mud Shot until level whatever.

After a quick sweep to see what stuff I can get with Cut (not all that much) it's time to go bail the Devon guy out again! It's apparent that SACHI really isn't going to work very well...unless maybe she gets good attacks soon. Nonetheless, she's only second on the priority list to rotate off the team- I have no use for ESTRADA as long as MONDO is alive....assuming Corphish can surf and all that, anyway.

....or I could not have to worry about it. A trained Shroomish gets an untimely crit, and Sachi dies to poison. This route is really annoying, as it has Shroomish running various status things, and Duskull with Disable. Trainers are a relative pain, too, and there are a lot of them. I almost lose RAPTH while not paying attention against a Ralts.

Oh hey, new Pokemon opportunity. Our first contestant is...Pelipper! .....It tanks my entire bag of pokeballs. Luckily I have money from all those trainer fights, but GEEZE. I am thinking I might see if I can cheat me up some master balls or something, because this is just a hassle. It's not really like it's adding to the challenge, either, since I have the redo clause. It's just making things difficult and less random, since I am only gonna be able to grab more catchable pokemon. Then again, I have no idea how to cheat with my perfectly legit GBA.

Next potential is a Dratini, which I crit and OHKO. And a Gloom, which I forgot doesn't resist Mud Shot and thus also OHKO'd. Man, good thing I'm doing a pansy Nuzlocke- I'm pretty bad at this. >_> Another Pelipper...I get it this time, after like five shots. Another water type "yay." At least I am kinda fond of this species. As I recall I had a Pelipper for quite some time on my team in the real game. I can't think of any good names, but it evolves from a seagull and because I am an umineko fanboy that means he shall be called NONAKU.

Alright, time to get NONAKU a few levels before moving o- FRIGGIN' WHY DOES REGISTEEL HAVE EXPLOSION AT LEVEL 6

It is time to quit while we're behind.

BISHAMON10- Groudon 13 (Starter)

Alright, let's see if we can't turn things around a bit and maybe find a sixth man I can keep alive for more than a route. I one-shot the team aqua guy in the cave, and take that as an auspicious sign.

Heck, maybe I'd be better off just doing a Groudon solo run at this point. He's got Rock Tomb for stuff with Flying or Levitate, and he's had no problems so far with type disadvantage. It's not my style, though- I've always been one of those people compelled to keep my entire party as close in levels as reasonably possible. Darned if he isn't a cut above the rest of the gang, though. GANGREL has him outspeeded, but otherwise he has the party-highest of every stat.

Plot stuff happens, and then it's off to see Mr. Brin- oh hey rival battle. MONDO 2HKO's Wingull, and Treecko does nothing but Leer while GANGREL takes him down.

Onward to Dewford! We get a Silk Scarf. .....I guess I could technically fish at Routes 106 and 107 if I wanted two more Water pokemon right now? I think I'll pass for the moment, since I have an option, and I presume I'll be surfing through here at some point maybe.

There is, however, a promising looking cave! Misdreavus is our first guest. NAILED IT. It feeds off fear, so I'll name it MONOBEAR because it's after 3 am and fear is sorta like despair and I don't care. ….It’s getting decent growths, but Psywave seems to be pretty crappy. I don’t think I usually run it. Then again, I’m too lazy to take the boat back, so that means MONOBEAR has to gain levels against the same level Bayleefs and Flaafys populating the area instead of bactracking for easier pickin’s. I stuck my head in the second level of the cave despite not having Flash, but decided against trying to beat it the hard way after my first encounter was a Tyranitar.

Two close calls in a row- MONOBEAR has trouble with a critical Razor Leaf from Bayleef, and on the way back to heal, a Moltres nearly kills off ESTRADA. We make it through, though, and for whatever reason I decide to start checking out the gym. MONOBEAR can PROBABLY handle it because typing, right? …..why is Psywave not super effective against Machop? Despite this odd happenstance and the scary levels of some of the trainer Pokemon, the biggest challenge of the Gym is navigating the stupid gimmick. Brawly goin’ DOWN.

Machop forces GANGREL to switch out because of stupid AI super potion (For whatever reason it always pisses me off when enemies use items) but can’t touch MONOBEAR. So much for trying to get some even EXP spread. Meditite stays alive for a while, but even with Super Potion doesn’t get an attack off. Just buffed and flinched. Makuhita refuses to do anything but Bulk Up, but it DOES succeed in nearly burning the rest of MONOBEAR’s PP. Painfully easy fight, even if GANGREL had a bit of a rough time. It’s not JUST that I had a Misdreavus, either- Brawly spent waaayyyy too much time using Bulk Up and screens.

MONOBEAR is the MVP of the day, and also the only thing I have capable of learning Flash, so it gets the dubious reward of Flash instead of Growl.

On to the deeper parts of Dewford Cave! Man, ESTRADA just isn’t cutting it....man, that was close. Tyranitar nearly killed him with Bite...and then he dies to Sandstorm. Didn’t like him much anyway. >_> This floor also has Rhyhorn, Diglett, and Wooper. Definite Ground theme going here. Also Snorunt and Seaking.

...BISHAMON10 LEARNED ANCIENTPOWER o_o Didn’t expect him to get any levelup moves for a long time! Course he can still one-shot most things with Mud Shot, but it’s nice to have options. Man, if he ever dies, I’m screwed. Nobody else on the team has good attack power right now.

Third floor has uh...Makuhita, Qwilfish, Kanghaskhan, Huntail. I nearly get RAPTH killed by leaving her up against a Huntail....but she evolves after, so it’s all good! That said, my team is having unusual amounts of trouble here. Well, my team except Groudon. I really should just treat this like a solo run. >_>

GANGREL learns Bite! That should help him a lot, although I am not immediately sure why I ditched Leech Life over Screech. After several retreats, we finally manage to clear the cave. GANGREL learns Steel Wing because why not.

….It occurs to me that herpaderp this is RANDOMIZED Pokemon, so there’s no reason to assume fishing = water pokemon. Feeling dumb, I make a quick stop by Route 107 to snag me....YAHIKO the Tyrogue. He’s kinda weak right now, but hey, sixth pokemon. ….Hey, can’t I fish in town too? Apparently not, but I CAN fish on Route 106! Let’s see...what is a Gorebyss? It nearly OHKO’s YAHIKO with Confusion, but MONOBEAR saves the day and holy crap I have to actually leave somebody in the PC. I have literally no idea what to name this thing....goin’ with TIPPER because gore I dunno. I consider switching her onto the team, but I guess I don’t need a second water type right now. Confusion is darned handy, though, and I have a feeling this is some super awesome Pokemon and I just don’t realize it. Well, whatever, I have Groudon. Let’s blow this town!

On to Slateport! It’s been a while since I have actually played this. :\ Oh nifty, a new route! That means new Pokeymans! We get...Azurill. Well, at least it was an easy catch! OSAKA goes in the box for now because typing. And she didn’t appear to have attacks anyway.

...I very nearly lose MONDO because I recklessly leave him in a turn too long while confused. Other than that, not much to report on the little beach area. I clear out the seashore hou- oh whoops critical hit bye YAHIKO you kinda sucked anyway. TIPPER Gorebyss gets the callup. TIME TO GRIND THEN.

I wander around aimlessly looking for a good grindy spot....hey, y'know what? I never caught anything on Route 115! I fish up a Ninjask, and just like that we welcome HANZO to the team because he just walled the hell outta me in Conquest. I'm gonna switch him in to avoid type overlap, which means it's time for MOAR GRINDAN. Training up a glass cannon...I'm sure that will work well in a Nuzlocke, right?

...I just realized how handy MONOBEAR is. Switched him in on a kamikaze Registeel. I learned from my previous mistakes! >:D Anyway, after a lengthy grind, we wind up in Slateport, where they sell GREAT BALLS. >:D

...This battle tent thing seems kinda fun! I wonder if these guys are randomized too? It certainly seems an odd selection if not. We're going with Taillow, Graveller, and Trapinch. First guy goes down quick, and I swap Trapinch for his Kecleon. Second guy oneshots Taillow with Kadabra, but goes down pretty easily otherwise. Kadabra comes in for Taillow. How does Nuzlocke work with this, anyway? >_> Well, that was easy enough. I get a Full Heal. <_< I beat it again with even fewer issues, and get...another Full Heal. Well, that's fun I guess.

Battle Tent's dialogue is so damn hilarious because it's obvious the localization team really didn't put more than ten minutes into that project. I'll never forget the little my-circle-of-friends meme that started when one of those dudes (they all speak in caps too, what the hell) comes rolling up to battle with,

"HAVE YOU SEEN A WHISCASH"

I kick his ass and he follows it up with,

"PLEASE I NEED A WHISCASH BADLY"

and walks away. What the heck, even by Pokemon standards, is this guy's issue?

well I assume they are using the little phrase entry thingy for those for whatever reason, but that doesn't make it less hilarious. My people kept going on about eggs.

....Was Battle Tent in R/S? I don't remember it but it's been a long time.

Haha, there's a joke to be made about how it says "go away" when you send them out in that version.

But damn, that does suck. :( The Pokemon Radio Tower guy is the best. He just asks you for a cookie and then starts mouthing off a string of profanity. I got so confused. I was also like twelve at the time and somewhat frightened.

My favorites were "To heal the elf?" which became a mini-meme with my friends, and the obligatory F*** every time you got an item. I am looking forward to watching the LP when I have better internet.

So I just started today and I had the choices of Umbreon, Latios, and Entei.

I went with Latios (Named it Gustavo because Breaking Bad is back in 2 weeks) and in my battle against Zigzagoon I had no idea what Dark Memento did. Run over.

So I decided to start over again and I got Seedot, Blaziken, and......................Latios. Again.

So me and Gustavo beat May easily and on Route 101 I catch a Jynx named Skyler.

Moving on to Route 102 the first pokemon I see is a Latios.
