If it's a perception thing and not actually true, why am I not allowed to prove them wrong?
Hey, you're bringing too much logic to something I thought up just before falling asleep. But if you want to goo down that road, let's say you're dead or otherwise incapable of doing so.

Best FPS of all time... http://img.imgcake.com/drakeryn/raydynjpgda.jpg
Ok, I got a slightly better thought out hypothetical now in somewhat the same vein: End all wars forever and bring about a utopia that solves all the worlds problems, (hunger, poverty, intolerance, etc.,) but you have to do something monstrous like blow up the earth or something. The alternative is that the status quo continues unchanged. Any takers?

So what happened to Simon at the end of TTGL? http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/3305/187426-after_cid_large.png
i'm gonna assume 'save the human race' is just an exaggeration for millions or billions will die. so basically, am i willing to be lelouch. which is all depends on what i've got to do and the circumstances. i'd have no problems with letting millions die if the situation doesn't fit that.
end all wars one is uh... why are you having me kill myself in your overblown examples. like, 'blow up a country' or even 'blow up a continent' make a lot more sense than the place where i myself am living on.

Like, say, eliminating all free will and lead the mindless drones to your vision of utopia?
I guess if that's the monstrous thing you want to do, sure. I was thinking more along the lines of doing something so monstrous that people set aside their differences and helped each other to solve the worlds problems, the end result being something like TNG human society. I guess in one sense the end result is the same, a change in the way people think, only I was thinking it would be a willing change by the individual.

all wars are ended forever, so that's out. and something so extreme would last MUCH longer than "a year or two." an effect that big would go through multiple generations and serve as a huge reminder to humanity for decades to come at a minimum. friggin' 9/11 lasted longer than "a year or two" and it's nowhere near the level being asked here. humans change depending on their circumstances, so whatever circumstances are needed to create such a situation will greatly affect them and that "human nature" will be changed. like it always is.
and if it's perfect then it's not boring. conflict between individuals wasn't removed. you're completely misunderstanding how a utopia works dude. >_>;

man, if the world would never be a utopia because of reason ___ then the answer is reason ___ will either go away because A) people changed, or B) people died.
either way they can't be a conflict to the hypothetical because that's not how a hypothetical work. >_>;

in which case I don't see the point in enabling such a utopia to begin with. I believe that a world with fundamentally good and righteous people would be boring to live in. All of the problems with our world may be because humans are fundamentally bastards, but I said it earlier.
...man, your viewpoint of humanity sucks. it's entirely reasonable for fundamentally good and righteous people to want to, on occasion, be dicks. for them to have conflict. if you'd find a world like that boring then quite frankly, in your own words there, you're either a terrible person or the most boring guy on the planet.
it's not like personal free will and conflict got jacked out of it or something. that's not how a utopia works.

From: ShadowHalo17 | #020 So either the whole human race dies, along with me. Or I save everyone and continue to live while being hated by absolutely everyone?
Nah, I'll let the human race die. We're a terrible species anyway. You realize if you doom the human race, you doom the entire planet right? Because of power plants, in the event the human race all died at once, we'd pretty much have a global meltdown
...hell, let's just go all out and remove any major conflicts or problems too. keep in mind that even WITHOUT that, you'd have people inventing, making stuff up, and boatloads of entertainment out there, because people want to make it, people want to hear/play/watch it, and all types would have learned to co-exist.
like. how is this boring.
