The level is 38-40 depending on your class, and you might reach level 28 if you do every single thing in the game, if you have a full party. Flame Arrow (or whatever it's called) is good for cheap damage. Unless you solo, you will never reach the level cap. The level is 38-40 depending on your class, and you might reach level 28 if you do every single thing in the game, if you have a full party.

Experience is plentiful enough, even if you skip sidequests you'll end up at level 24 or so, but the game is not intended for you to reach the level cap.

They have little blurbs explaining what they do. The early ones are mostly lame, though Magic Missile is always useful. Flame Arrow (or whatever it's called) is good for cheap damage. And Stinking Cloud can be really good if you know a fight is coming and throw it into a room
