Germany need to be more ruthless against a team looking to play defense/counterattack. Podolski's second miss in particular was horribly wasteful, but Muller's chance should have been on target too. Portugal are pretty clearly playing primarily not to lose, knowing they'll be in a good position if they don't.

That said, he did not have a brilliant game, he ran free towards goal where he probably would have scored if the pass came sooner, and he did make some key passes. Besides, Portugal didn't play bad, better than The Netherlands and Denmark at least.
