Today/tonight is a good day/night for some Buffy/Angel watching. I don't have work tomorrow, so I will be able to get some watching done.

I'll do my best with these writeups.

BUFFY

Life Serial
This is to be a display of the sort of threat that Andrew, Jonathan, and Warren can pose to Buffy. Look at them they so smart. I still don't buy them as villains, so hopefully something comes and displaces them soon. Also, Andrew wearing that Iowa Hawkeyes t-shirt was pretty rad. The most important thing here was the relationship between Buffy and Giles. That look at the end of the episode when Buffy said she was glad Giles would always be there said 1000 words and then some.

All the Way
There was the whole "Dawn has a crush on a vampire" thing and that was okay, but again the most important part is the relationship between Buffy and Giles, and I'm not liking where it is going in a sad kind of way, not a this is poorly written kind of way. But it's cool that Giles wrote the check so now we don't have to hear endlessly about money issues. Real life problems are real, but I don't want to watch our supernatural slayer have to deal with them as a major plot point, y'know? Oh yeah, and the Xander/Anya engagement has been announced to the gang. I'm kind of sad, because I've got a bad feeling that this is the start of the end of the Xander/Anya relationship. I don't want to see them end.

I've seen Once More, With Feeling. I'm probably going to watch it again, just because it's so charming of an episode. I'll say right now it's not my favorite episode of the series, (that's still Passion) but it was certainly entertaining.

ANGEL

Fredless
This episode really had me going for awhile, actually. It all seemed so final for Fred's character. I guess the parent's thing was an interesting mislead, but it seemed kind of unnecessary. They had to drag it on a little bit, though, so it's okay. This episode was good for Fred's character as it gave her official reason to be with the gang. She was no longer just in recovery mode. I like Fred. She's quirky and cute, even if she does have the "unable to initially say things in plain English" trope thing to her that is slightly annoying. I can look past it easily enough, though.

Billy
I'm assuming that the Billy character is dead now, which is weird. I thought he was going to have a bigger role than he did. I'm fine with it, though. He didn't have as much potential as somebody like Trick did where I'm sad that he never got to fulfill what seemed like a larger purpose. It did seem like the Congressman was going to have a large part this season, and I'm hoping that's not the case. Keep the politics out. Let's stay with a Angel's baby story for this season. The Cordy-Lilah exchange was interesting, though. *****es unite, and such. I really enjoyed Angel and Cordelia's talk at the end of the episode where Angel can simultaneously comfort and freak out Cordelia. Love it.

Offspring
I was aware that "Angel loves Cordelia" was going to be a storyline, and I could easily see it being formed in the episode prior to this. Silly Angel. This better not end in Cordelia leaving the show. I have a problem where I truly feel like one of the main cast is going to eventually leave, and I hate that because I don't want any of them to leave ever. I want them all to stay throughout the duration of the series, but that just seems unlikely. If I had to order them is my feelings of most likely to leave to least likely to leave, it'd go like this: Gunn - Cordelia - Fred - Wesley. But yeah, let's not let any of them leave.

Oh, and then there's the baby plot point. A baby with a soul! Whatever comes from this is going to have huge implications for the rest of the series. My guess is that Darla dies in childbirth. Seems like that would make sense, I think. It would get the evil ***** out of the picture and allow Angel's son to fulfill the prophecy. I'm excited to see where this all goes. I really love this show. Angel > Buffy at this point, which surprises me.

What you are watching: Good things are happening and people are happy
What you are thinking: This will not end well

Joss Whedon has screwed with our minds too much.

Once More, With Feeling

Through the Fire
Giles and Tara's Soliloquy
Standing in the Way
Buffy's Refrain
Where Do We Go From Here
I've Got a Theory
Going Through the Motions
The Demon's Song
I'll Never Tell
Rest in Peace
Under Your Spell

That's a rough ranking of the songs, complete with the titles I gave them because I don't know what their song titles actually are.

So yeah, this was a really fun, but really serious episode. It got all the secrets out, which was needed. Dawn is still a klepto, Tara knows Willow erased her memory, and most importantly, the gang knows Buffy is unhappy being back. The numbers were overall pretty great, and I can't say I truly disliked any of them. Even though Tara and Willow's number is at the bottom, it was really impressive and I loved the sexual undertones (lolol where's Willow when Tara lays on the bed?). Giles is awesome at everything he does still. All of his songs were my favorites. Oh, and then there's the whole Buffy and Spike kissing thing with "Where do we go from here?" being sung in the background. Nice touch. Oh, and the singing Mutant Enemy. Yay funsies.

Rest in Piece that low? D:

Anyway, OMWF was actually the first BtVS episode I watched. I felt like watching some musical episodes and heard it was one of the best, so why not? I didn't understand a lot of what was going on (which fortunately allowed me to forget/overlook some of the spoilers that come with starting a series with an episode 6 seasons in). I was so impressed that I decided to watch the whole show!

The show only has one bad season.

hmm...I've never ranked the songs before. Going through the soundtrack I think my order would be:
Walk Through the Fire
Standing/Under your spell- reprise
Rest in Peace
Standing
What You Feel (demon song)
I'll Never Tell
Something to Sing About (Buffy's Refrain)
Under Your Spell
I've Got a Theory
Where Do We Go From Here
Going Through the Motions
What You Feel- Reprise
The Parking Ticket
The Mustard
Coda (the Buffy/Spike duet with WDWGFH background)
Dawn's Lament (shame she wanted to dance instead of sing)

That is tough to rank though. And I put vocal quality as more important than you probably are.

Allow me to vent slightly here for a moment, if you will.

I decided to open the Season 6 DVD so graciously provided to me by Maniac, since I'll only have it for less than a week now. I wanted to watch the extras for Once More, With Feeling. The cover didn't surprise me. It's been obvious that's the route it was going. I open it, and I see an advertisement slip for the final season of Buffy. Oh cool, no biggie. Upon a (foolish) closer look, I notice a character I haven't seen for awhile standing there. I notice an accessory on a character that isn't there right now. I notice the absence of two main characters.

Silly me. I need to learn to handle things with my eyes closed. At least I've avoided IMDb. Claps to me for that.

Yeah. that was a very unfortunate picture.

I am now pissed that I didn't take the time to look through all the stupid insert stuff in those DVDs.

Though it wouldn't have helped to much since that picture is also one of the side pictures inside the Season 7 DVDs so as soon as he opened the box it would be there.

And now he doesn't know what those are so now he doesn't have to worry about it!

At least he has to guess when it all happens?

Also Buffy, Dawn, and Willow all look really weird in that picture.

Buffy Season 6, Episode 8: Tabula Rasa

Thank goodness it showed Buffy and Spike kissing at the end and had some sort of gain. Otherwise, that episode almost ruined Michelle Branch - Goodbye to You for me, and that would've been very sad. This was a simultaneously fun and sad episode. It's funny how those seem to work out. The scene where they are "figuring" out their identities was pretty classic, and the interactions between the matches were very funny. The best part, in my opinion, was the jab at Angel and the whole vampire with a soul thing. I gave a couple hearty laughs to that. Ahh but good things come to an end and things take a sharp turn for the depressing when "Alex" steps on that crystal and everybody realizes what happened. I think it really helps that I already knew the song. I should listen to it now. I love Michelle Branch's singles.

I'm curious as to what they are going to do with Tara here. Do they just have her disappear, or will they do some fallout? I assume there will be some fallout. They won't just have her disappear, especially with Willow's looming heel turn. Also, I'm very curious as to what they are going to do involving Buffy and Spike. It's just an odd relationship. Good further setup for many of the plot points that have been set up this season. There's also the Giles leaving bit, which I know won't last, but am still sad to see because bad things happen when Giles isn't around, as has been proven many times over the series. Plus, he's the best character on the show, so there's that too.

And no, I didn't catch the Restless reference or foreshadow that I was told would be present.
