P4 is meh? That's disappointing. Honestly I'll probably watch it anyway at some point because it's one of my all-time fave games. It might go on the girlfriend queue, though, because I think she'd like the cast but wouldn't be able to get into the gameplay.

Other shows I'm considering are AKB048 and Carnival Phantasm. Fate/Zero, Nichibros, Hidamari, and maybe Akagi and Tylor will probably bump up the queue as well.

Yeah, that episode interestingly avoids the common trappings that most other shows follow, the rule of holiday episode=Christmas plot, and instead focuses on the Equestria's past.

They had to do make it culture-independent, especially because MLP is so big in foreign countries

I think Madoka is not going to be quite my thing, especially after Smile Precure. I am frequently not so into the dark stuff.

I DID however go over to girl's last night and we watched Secret World of Arrietty and the first ep of Escaflowne. Arietty was a re-watch for me, and I can't recommend it enough, even relative to other Miyazaki. Such a good time. Escaflowne showed promise as well, even if the artstyle is kinda odd. I have high hopes for it but secretly wanna finish Avatar and watch Sengoku Basara first.

Girl and I watched Escaflowne 2-4 today. Still really enjoying it, although I'd rather be watching Avatar or Sengoku. When those aren't available, tho! I am pretty entertained by Allen. The catgirl is fun too because she's...actually cat-like. Although VAN-SAMAAAAAA is going to get annoying very soon.

Y'know, I still like Pinkie, but I feel she was better in S1. I can't put my finger on why. I feel like she doesn't get as many awesome background moments and feels a bit more forced. She's unlikely to drop out of the top two, but she's also not that close to #1 anymore and might actually have some trouble holding off Rarity and Twilight. My rankings have proven more fluid than expected, although they still haven't actually changed all that much.
