Points Received/List Appearances: 169;13
Developer: Squaresoft
System: PlayStation, PlayStation Network, PSP
Genre(s): Strategy RPG
Previous Rank: 7th (List 8)

The highest Strategy RPG and many people's favorite Final Fantasy.

The game has your typical final fantasy job system but has its own unique way of leveling up characters and abilities. While the game is easy enough to learn, the overall difficulty can be a bit tough.

The storyline is pretty liked except that the translation can be a bit infamous.

9.The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask

Points Received/List Appearances: 171;12
Developer: Nintendo EAD
System: Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Virtual Console
Genre(s): Action-Adventure
Previous Rank: 24th (List 8)

GameFAQs Game of the 00s Decade and surprisingly, Board 8's overall favorite Zelda game.

Majora's Mask is quite different compared to most Zelda games in the series. While there are still dungeons and items to find and stuff, there are many things unique to this game such as: The 3 day system, finding ALL masks, more and deeper sidequests than all Zelda games, and a mere 4 main dungeons.

8.Final Fantasy IX

Points Received/List Appearances: 205;17
Developer: Squaresoft
System: PS1, Playstation Network
Genre(s): JRPG
Previous Rank: 18th (List 8)

After FF6-8's more futurisitc setting, FF9 goes back to the classic medieval setting.

Compared to FF7-8, 4 characters can fight in a battle, each character has a play style that's more similar to the classic job system, and the story is more light hearted than the previous two main games in the series.

While these changes aren't liked by some, many people who play this game love these changes and some consider it the best Final Fantasy.

7.Final Fantasy VI

Points Received/List Appearances: 231;17
Developer: Squaresoft
System: SNES, PS1, GBA, Virtual Console, Playstation Network
Genre(s): JRPG
Previous Rank: 6th (List 8)

aka FFIII for the US SNES version.

The gameplay has the common ATB system but instead of a typical job class being in, this game revolves around learning magic through equipping summon spirits.

This game has the highest amount of playable characters in a main FF game totaling 14. It also has one of the most popular game villains in Kefka.

6.Final Fantasy VII

Points Received/List Appearances: 243;18
Developer: Squaresoft
System: PS1, Playstation Network
Genre(s): JRPG
Previous Rank: 1st (List 8)

The biggest surprise on the list. What's usually in the top 2 of these lists, ends up barely missing top 5 and not even the best FF.

Nevertheless, this game is still one of the most popular and definitely the most well-known Final Fantasy ever.

Battles have the ATB system, but in FF7 you learn and use abilities through the Materia system, which you can customize to your very needs.

The game stars a lot of the series most popular characters including Cloud, Tifa, Sephiroth, Vincent, etc.
