The Completionist and the charity did fuck up and they absolutely should have been transparent about it, but given they were investigated and not charged so far, I don't really think they did anything that terrible. As someone with minimal knowledge about what was going on (I know the broad points, but never dug into the weeds), I always just got the impression that he was someone who was trying to do good, was in a situation where he was unknowledgeable and ignorant, and when things didnt go the way he had envisioned, he panicked and tried to stall for time because he genuinely didnt know what to do. I dont think he did anything with malice or ill intentions. Again, not incredibly up to speed on all the details.
