When they emerge from the RoSaT, Trunks says his father broke the Super Saiyan barrier. When Goku does it, he calls it a form. The only mention of the word transform is when Vegeta first does it vs Cell, as Trunks says hes going to transform into it. That was just a one off, though - they use different language for the most part.
