Annoyed, I finished chapter 3 with beating the optional boss, but the save I used didn't have the shadow crystals from previous chapters. Well, I'll probably replay the older chapters at some point when chapter 5 or later are released. Thinking about it, the way each chapter has almost totally discontinuous save files is really odd. I wonder if that's going to have some significance, or if it's just an artifact of the game's release cycle.

In the castle town there's a hole in the wall on the screen to the left, can you retrieve the other items from there? Normally you can transfer the crystals and boss items that way if it's on a different file, I'm not sure if it works for all of them or just the one for the most recent preceding chapter, though.

I think this is so far the only thing the different save files are used for but it does show that they check each other. It does make replaying for secrets easier too.
