Louisiana, in this election, only had 60.8% of eligible voters actually vote in the election.
https://ballotpedia.org/Election_results,_2024:_Analysis_of_voter_turnout_in_the_2024_general_election

There are 2,984,366 eligible voters in Louisiana.
https://electionstatistics.sos.la.gov/Data/Registration_Statistics/statewide/2025_0101_sta_comb.pdf

Donald Trump netted 1,208,505 votes in Louisiana
Kamala Harris netted 766,870 votes in Louisiana
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_United_States_presidential_election_in_Louisiana#Results

2,984,366 - 1,208,505 = 1,775,861 votes (for Harris or not cast at all)

1,775,861 - 766,870 = 1,008,991 votes (remaining)

That's more than enough votes to flip Louisiana into the Democratic column. But instead of doing so, you and all the rest of the non-voters (or third-party voters) decided to waste your vote and allow Trump to return to power.

You and the rest of them could have flipped Louisiana, but chose not to.

So, no... Louisiana is not a lost cause, unless you chose to make it a lost cause. And in 2024, YOU DID!

Why don't you go look at the previous elections and see how many people voted? Democrats lost about 90,000 votes, while Trump lost 50,000. But if you compare that to 2016, Harris still lost 14,000 votes, where as Trump gained 22,000. 2016 and 2024 had the same amount of voters. Since 2008 Democrats have not gotten more than 41% of the Louisiana vote. Hmm, who ran in 2008 that completely poisoned the well for Louisiana? This is why I say Louisiana is a lost cause for Democrats: they ran a Black candidate and the voting populace never forgave them. The nonvoters never vote, so you might as well discount them from any discussion. They don't care about national politics. It is disingenuous to lump them with protest voters because they are two different groups. One group can be won over for their votes, the latter will never vote.

Who are these progressives you think exist in Louisiana that aren't voting?
