We got through Trumps first term because Trump did not have loyal sycophants who were willing to ignore the constitution. Not because "we are a strong nation." Trump if anything else has put a spotlight on how shitty our guard rails really are.

This, there's a reason why he has a different VP and like over half of his cabinet and people around him at the time refuse to support him now. Unfortunately he's just replacing them with people who will slurp him up at every moment so it he wins there's a non-zero chance the American democratic project just straight up ends, he almost did it last time and will probably try harder if he gets another chance.
