I got all the available monster drops so far, and after much trial and error, I beat the first few people in the quest line and ~~recruited the old dude~~. Then I ~~stomped Reid in the rematch 3-0 on the first try~~. It seems the biggest trick is to try to time your boosts with your opponent's so you can beat them in mash battles.
