Ellen is a persona adopted for entertainment purposes. It would only be like finding out a news broadcaster wasn't all that interested in current affairs. Or that a children's entertainer didn't like kids. As long as they are doing the job competently, it doesn't matter. You don't get the 'real' person, you get showbiz. It would be like finding out Hannity was a staunch liberal. Or Anderson cooper was a conservative.
