It's kind of like Tolkien, where The Hobbit is more lighthearted and aimed at a bit of a younger audience, and then Lord of the Rings winds up being a much more serious and mature story. Sword in the Stone feels like a much lighter story than the ones that follow in the rest of The Once and Future King. Yeah I can absolutely see it now that I've finished that section.
