A couple days ago, one of my cats became suddenly interested in a door chain that was like 5 or so feet off the floor. To reach it, he would have to jump. Jumping up and reaching it could have meant getting his claw stuck in a chain link. The thought of him getting stuck could have meant severely damaging his claw or his paw or his arm, and if that had happened while I was at work or asleep, could have meant being in intense pain or a slow death from blood loss.

I decided to remove the door chain after that thought process, as it was something that was left over from the previous owners and something I never had the intention of using. It's been over 3 years since adopting my boys and it's surprising and upsetting that I never thought about that chain being a danger in all this time.

I hope that whatever caused your kitty's claw damage has been removed as a hazard and that your sweet baby makes a good recovery.
