It's on its own a great song and has lyrics fitting for the material ("Hope dangles on a string...") while matching the vibe of Spider-Man 2 and Peter's identity struggle so well. I think this is one of the best movies about a superhero ever made but I don't know how total the impact would've been on me if not for this song.
