Default sorting is Top, downvoted comments disappear to the very bottom of a thread. If its a thread with a lot of replies, it's going to disappear. It will stay down there unless you sort by controversial, posts are only "controversial" if they're also being upvoted somewhat and even that doesn't seem to make any sense. Dissenting opinions just get banished to the bottom of the page. Oh, god help you if you're using the official app, which is the only way to view Reddit on mobile anymore since their API changes nuked every third party app.

Another big issue is sometimes subreddits are run by moderators with agendas. Entire boards can be taken down in protests over whatever they're angry about this time. Automod bots can nuke your posts based on AI detecting sentences / words in your post and deciding it breaks an obscure subreddit rule without anyone even checking ("No posts asking X question, post them in the megathread to be ignored!"). Reddit is a cesspool outside a select handful of subs.

You sound negative

Bruh have you even browsed boards other than B8? We're pretty chill here but almost every game board on this site I've bothered browsing is just tons of trolling / doomposting. Or if they don't start that way, they devolve into pointless arguments that dominate the entire thread. Genuinely, I think THIS board might be one of the last relatively fine ones left. Really, both sites suck. I will say Reddit can be useful if all you're doing is lurking for info about certain things, often better than Googling for some obscure clickbait website with 90% ads.
