Couple of branching paths (I think) but mostly a straight shot. It's got the best items and the hardest enemies, then you can do it again after the first successful attempt for the second version (harder enemies, different final boss). It's not a straight up boss rush but you'll deal with a lot of unpleasant enemies. Including but not limited to a 30 meter tall BDSM Cyclops, "We Have Beholders At Home," and straight up fuckin' Death himself.
