I saw "character revealed to have x identity and Discourse surrounding it" and my mind made a connection to a somewhat related issue. I'm gonna give you one more chance to save yourself, literally just one. Here is the context: The character didn't go on some soapbox to announce they're bisexual. They didn't announce they're bisexual at all. They just happened to have a scene where they kissed a fellow man. Do you think this is "announcing" their sexuality?
