i come across a baby drowning in a sink. i could save the baby, but at the risk of getting my hands wet. thankfully with your reasoning, because there is a risk to me, i am not evil if i let this baby drown. i can simply walk away and remain a good/neutral person. phew.

Are you evil for not personally ensuring that no baby in the world ever dies? You're using a stupid example over something asinine such as "getting your hands wet", when I specifically mentioned risk/harm coming to the person. It costs nothing for anybody to pick up a baby that's drowning in a bathtub.

If a baby was drowning in a raging river, it's not evil to not want to risk dying for that baby, it's the option most people would choose. Like, you really think the vast majority of people would dive on in? No. The psychological phenomenon known as the bystander effect shows this. Is everybody who assumes somebody else will come along and be a savior evil? No. However, you would be justified in challenging their thinking that they're good people. That's what I mean by neutrality, the state of being the vast majority of the populace exists within.

Good people step up when they're not required to, that's what makes them stand out and the point of my post was that you don't need evil to exist in order for good people to exist.
