Up until the late 90s, no one had even managed to amass more than $25 billion (and even if we adjust for inflation, the world's richest man only held $20 billion to $40 billion for the entirety of last century, aside from Henry Ford in the 40s). Now we have multiple people with net worth north of $200 billion (i.e. a more than fourfold increase in roughly 25 years).
