Trump is the culmination of everything the GOP and movement conservatism have worked toward ever since racist opposition to civil right progress gave birth to the Religious Right as a political force. The GOP base is presently the most aggressively stupid and proudly malicious large group of people on the planet because that's what the GOP establishment has programmed them to be. In particular, the GOP base has been fascist-curious sheeple seeking their Fuhrer for decades, and Trump fell into that pattern like the Hideous Transcendent Pig entering its Sty of Destiny.
