I'm glad you liked my songs! Pelican Canyon was a big surprise for me when I stumbled across it on Spotify. I was already a fan of Samuel Herring from his work as the lead singer of Future Islands and from some other miscellaneous songs I've heard him featured on over the years, but I had never heard him sing a stripped back acoustic ballad before, and damn...it really blew me away. I think he might be my favorite male vocalist, actually (shoutouts Sufjan though, that's my boy). The way you described his voice, yeah, I agree lol. Miami was a big surprise for me as well. I had enjoyed some of Caroline Rose's previous songs, but they were mostly fun and breezy pop songs. I was NOT expecting to be punched in the gut like I was. Such gravitas, what a beautiful song. She absolutely crushed it. Thanks for running this, it was a pleasure! I'm legitimately super impressed by how seriously you took the rankings and the write-ups. I am personally terrible at describing music (which is why I could never do a ranking like this), but you did a great job!
