In the US afaik returning to service is voluntary. Idk how similar this is to Israel but the USA has the Individual Ready Reserve that military members are obliged to for 8 years. The countdown starts ticking the moment one enters the Delayed Enlistment Program iirc. So you can enlist for 3-6 years, leave, and still be recalled within 2-5 years. Chances to be recalled are close to 0 for now though. --- I'm a Taurus.
