I mentioned before that vague villains are inherently going to struggle a bit in the characterization department, but I think Labour makes up for that primarily by showing the perspective of the woman affected by the villain, here being the man who treats his girlfriend/wife like a servant, so that even though the "you" she's referring to is vague, the effects his actions have on her personally is still made clear. That wavers a bit in the bridge, where Paloma kind of goes back and forth between "me" and the less specific "her," making the POV a bit fuzzy.

Really great songwriting here though, and the mention of the protagonist's worries of her daughter, should she have one, inevitably falling intro the same trap should he have the chance to teach her to expect those behaviors really gives this song the extra boost it needs. Add in Paloma's extremely pleasant voice and the layering of the bridge and the chorus toward the end really cements this as a pretty great song.
