They saw the truly absurd damage numbers players could put out towards the end of Arc 1, especially once Merlin was released (he became summonable with the release of Solomon) and this was their solution so that players couldn't just 1 turn everything if they didn't give every boss millions of HP. --- May you find your book in this place.
