There's one highway in my state that's just two lane and goes thru an area that has no auto services for about 60-70 miles. It's just farmland and you can't see anything at night. If I'm going through there during the day, I have quite a few times seen a dead dog on the road, likely just thrown out of their owner's car at full speed to not have to deal with it. That's my guess anyway.

I don't know if any type of organizational body ever goes out there to clean them up. My guess is no and that they are just left to the vultures, which are also out there in numbers.

I'm pretty sure I saw someone throw a kitten out of a car on a 60 mph freeway. I saw a black clump of something exit their passenger window and when I drove by where I saw it happen there was a furry black mass with what looked like blood splattered behind it.
