The problem with board games is that there's really three distinct eras of board games - the ancient ones that are universal (chess, go etc), the 'classics' that every family has in their closet (monopoly, clue) and the modern ones that are way better than the classics (catan and everything onward) I'm sticking with the modern Era because the mass market Middle Ages of board gaming should not be honored.
