I think that was true 15-20 years ago when the Bourne movies came out and the Bond folks did Casino Royale, but at this point I think many people would like a return to form, so to speak. People love the Marvel movies and they're full of over the top supervillains and plots. You don't have to go super ridiculous anyway. Just don't be so dry. I think there's a happy medium. I thought you might mention superhero movies, but I'd counter that those are a genre with actual superpowered people (and even gods) that wield magic and other abilities far outside the realm of anything we'd accept in the spy genre. You know what you're going into with a Marvel movie and adjust mindset accordingly. I do agree gadgets and quips were less common in the Craig era though. Ben Whishaw is a likeable enough Q and Ralph Fiennes is a pretty good M. They'll just need to get a more comedic actor in the role if they want to recapture the spirit of the Moore era. --- "How is that a religious topic?
