My cousins marriage just ended after less than 2 years. Another cousin; his ended after 8 years even tho he was a family man. A girl I work with; her boyfriend left her after like 7 years just randomly because he wanted another woman.

Just remember, you don't know exactly what happened behind closed doors and are getting one side of the story.

The divorce rate is lower now than it was throughout the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s. It was lower in the 1950s and before because married women were basically considered property and were forced to remain in loveless and abusive marriages.

And that's even if you don't start accounting for variables such as if it's someone who has been married before or if it's a couple that rushed into marriage. If you have a couple that lived together before, on their first marriage, and were together for a good amount of time, it plummets even further.

Another reminder that the bad relationship stories will also stick out more. People love to bitch about their significant others but they tend to not have the same volume when things are going well.
