Offering him a job is offering a hand up, which to Jimmy means recognizing Howard as above him or superior. Reminds him of Chuck. And lines up with Kim's feelings towards Howard, so they just go off. Unrelated, but think about Nacho meeting Eladio. Compare it to Jesse meeting Eladio, and to Hector's driver meeting Eladio.
