This. I only keep it up when I have visitors over, as apparently some people have a habit of not even looking at the toilet before taking their pants down and sitting on it.

2. It is not stopping particles from getting on your toothbrush because it isn't a vacuum seal.

I'm no botanist, but I like to to think keeping the lid down at least limits the amount of particles when you flush. I'm not to worried about it as my toilet and toothbrush/sink/shower are in different rooms.

Of course some people will say those pee/poo particles will follow me to the ends of the Earth no matter where I hide, but that's ok. A little dirt never hurt anyone, and besides, everyone likes their own brand, don't they?
