I'm conflicted. One one hand, as others have said already, there's nothing wrong with being a fan or even a big fan of something, but when you make being a fan a part of your entire life and/or personality, it's odd. I love lots of things, but I wouldn't have a wedding or other important event in my life revolve around one of them.

On the other, if it doesn't really hurt anybody, let people enjoy it. Let them be "weirdos" or whatever. At least they have something to enjoy in life.

Its no weirder than some sports fan communities.

Hardcore sports fandom has always gotten an unfair pass. Lots of those types need to be called out as well or at least when they're being really obnoxious about it, like how many extreme sports fans can be. Not all are like that of course.
