In a normal election, I think Biden would be a joke candidate. But with Trump, it's a race to the bottom. The Democrat party wants the least awful candidate who won't shake up the status quo (i.e. move the nation the length of a mouse's pinky-toe toward socialism). And Trump's celebrity outside of politics means that Democrats need a name candidate. Trump is famous for being a rich asshole.
