Then it is largely irrelevant as the fact that a difference exists does not mean that it is a problem. As I said in #24: average people don't know crap about what Japanese actually means and simple translation is not good enough. People don't get the different alphabets and their reasons for use, they don't get that there are largely non-used words in Japanese that are essentially "ye olde English", etc. Simple 1:1 translations are nowhere good enough and are only desirable when talking about language and culture reductively.

The goal here is preserving the source material's information and emotional tone, to the extent practical. I realize the average person who doesn't know Japanese, is going to be unaware the dialogue was altered. But that doesn't give companies the right to treat their customers like idiots.
