As I stated in my first comment, it is disrespectful and minimizing to blatantly ignore someone's pronoun...when you know it. But are you seriously telling me that there's no way you can see how, if someone plows ahead with references to an unknown "they," it might take them two seconds to realize who is actually referred to?
